Abstract

The MIMO Enhanced Linear Short Synthetic Aperture Radar (MELISSA) is a GB-SAR system which consists of 12 pyramidal horn antennas placed in linear antenna array geometry in its transmitter block. This paper discusses the feasibility of replacing this transmitter block with a 2 x 6 planar coaxial cavity horn (choke) antenna array with an improved gain and return loss results. The simulation results obtained from Antenna Magus and MatLab Simulink show that the overall gain of the proposed antenna array is 10.65 dBi with appreciable return loss values at varied distances of the target placement.
