Abstract

Economic dispatch optimization is an optimization of power system generators which aims to minimize costs by determining the power produced in accordance with electricity requirements and system capacity. Previous research has proposed several methods for this problem, but more optimal results and more efficient computations need to be developed. Therefore, this research proposes the Quantum Class Topper Optimization (Q-CTO) algorithm as a method in optimizing economic dispatch to minimize the total cost of power generation with transmission losses. By using secondary data of six power plant covering the Java - Bali area, the results of economic dispatch optimization using the Q-CTO algorithm method can save a total cost of 1.29% compared to the original data, 0.13% to the firefly algorithm and 0.01% to the bat algorithm. In addition, the amount of transmission losses obtained is smaller than the original data and the two previous methods, so the power that can be distributed to the community becomes greater.
