Abstract

The paper justifies the rationality of the optimization of some design parameters of dust collectors with counter-current swirling flows (VIDC-series dust collectors), due to their significant difference from the previous types of centrifugal cyclone dust collectors. The authors give the results of the experimental characterization of the kinematic pattern of a swirled flow in the separation chamber of dust collectors with counter-current swirling flows. A semi-empirical procedure has been presented which is aimed at determining the influence of the design parameters of the primary inlet of a dust collector with counter-current swirling flows on the dust collection efficiency. The paper provides the result of the experimental investigation confirming the positive influence of the suggested design alterations on the operation efficiency of dust collectors with counter-current swirling flows.
