Abstract

In this communication, an attempt has been made to develop a theoretical model for prediction of the daily yield from an active double effect distillation system. In this case, the latent heat of condensation is utilized for further distillation by flowing water over the first condensing cover. The effects of collector area, flow rate, basin area, water depth etc. on daily yield have been presented for a typical day of Delhi climate conditions. Further, the developed computer model has been used to optimise the daily yield for a given set of parameters, namely basin area, water depth, collector area etc.
