Abstract
A bending technique to achieve compactness in the longitudinal dimension of one-dimensional photonic bandgap (PBG) microstrip structures already has been proposed by the authors. The meander PBG reflector had almost the same frequency response as the straight device, but a small ripple appeared due to the periodicity of the meander line employed. Two different techniques to smooth that ripple are proposed and successfully tested. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 26: 211–216, 2000.
