Abstract

Ultra high pressure extraction (UHPE) was used to obtain bio-active components fromScutellaria baicalensis, which had characters of higher extraction yield, lower extracting temperature, shorter extracting time and less power consumption. The extraction process of baicalin and baicalein from S. baicalensis was optimized by using central composite design-response surface methodology (CCD-RSM). The results showed that the optimal conditions for the optimum extraction conditions were extracting pressure of 142.60 MPa, ethanol concentration of 60.54%, solid-liquid ratio of 1:35.60, the extraction efficiency of baicalin and baicalein was 16.04 and 1.65%, respectively and integrated score of 3.09. UHPE provided a novel method for extraction of active ingredient from S. baicalensis. Key words: Ultra high pressure, central composite design-response surface methodology,Scutellaria baicalensis, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
