Abstract

To reach a sufficient accuracy with high productivity in centerless through-feed grinding, is a properly setup condition indispensable. In this work, a 3D kinematic simulation of centerless through-feed grinding is presented, to predict the process condition and optimize the setup conditions. The simulation is done considering the geometrical rounding stability, which mainly depends on to the work-holding conditions and regenerative centering effects. A qualitative assessment of the effect of these parameters is undertaken by means of a time domain simulation based on a non-linear 3-dimensional model of the centerless grinding process.
