Abstract
We report on a new photon-counting detector for X-rays in the 0.1–100 keV energy range. The new detectors are X-ray charge-coupled devices (CCD) on which a scintillator is directly coupled with optical cement. We developed the new detector and measured its spectral resolution. Our results show that the detector possesses a spectral resolution of 26% (FWHM) at 59.5 keV. Additionally, in order to optimize its structure, by employing the DETECT2000 Monte-Carlo simulation software we calculated the light transfer in the scintillator and found the appropriate structure of the scintillator crystal for the new detector.
