Abstract

Electromagnetic Pulse welding (EMPW) use pulsed electromagnetic field on electrically conductive work pieces. This is a solid state impact welding technique. Energy dumping is an important factor in Electromagnetic Pulse welding system. With numerical analysis, here it is shown that optimization of energy dumping gives more uniform magnetic field at specified location. Effect of different energy level shown by numerical analysis. This is a prominent technique to join both similar and dissimilar metals with different melting points. Capacitive energy used as source in this technique and the job piece placed near actuator coil. EMPW performed by impact, with the application of Lorentz force. In this paper investigation done on parameters such as Voltage, Energy, magnetic field and magnetic Pressure are found theoretically.
