Abstract

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an epoxy resin which is generally used in the manufacture of certain plastic components such as sports bottles, Children’s toys, Thermal cash receipt papers etc. BPA is used in the plastic products since a long time. The presence of BPA is toxic to the mankind, animals and aquatic life which in turn leads to many disorders. BPA is called as an endocrine disruptor. There are various health concerns of BPA which in turn effects the metabolic factors of endocrine system. It effects the thyroid function to the mankind upon the continuous exposure to BPA. It may also be a cause for the cancer, fertility issues etc. in the long run. There are various biodegradation studies focussed in the present days in order to degrade the BPA up to a maximum extent. The present work is concentrated on the extraction of BPA along with which Response surface methodology is also performed using Box Behnkan design for the optimized conditions where the extraction of BPA was obtained with 92.5% accuracy.
