Abstract

Streaming media technology is that continuous media transmits in the network using stream technology. It supports playing of audio and video files while they are being downloaded. So that users feel as smooth as playing local files when they broadcast network file. Due to that the amount of data of the audio and video files is very large, real-time broadcast is not an easy thing. It needs for data acquisition, compression, network transmission, decoding and playing for the client, as well as many other aspects. However, due to real-time broadcast brings unprecedented convenience, there is huge demand for embedded devices of supporting streaming media technology in market. Based on the ARM S3C2410 development board as the hardware platform, the Linux kernel 2.4.18 version as an embedded operating system, an embedded platform for streaming media player is built. On the platform, in order to implement the audio and video streaming transmission and smooth playback, the transplantation of streaming media player MPlayer and decoder of optimization are discussed.
