Abstract

The optimization design model of structural parameters of toroidal continuously variable transmission (CVT) is established on the basis of analysis of its transmission ratios and contact parameters. The minimum cavity radium and the maximum average efficiency in the whole range of the transmission ratios are taken as objective functions, which oil film thickness and contact strength et al. are considered as constraint conditions. The evaluation function is established by using the multiplication-division method in the multi-objective optimization method, and structural parameters can be obtained by using Fmincon function in the Matlab software based on sequential quadratic programming(SQP) algorithm. The analysis results show that the cavity radius is reduced, the CVT becomes compacter, and the transmission efficiency is improved. This optimal design can improve the comprehensive capacity of this kind of CVT effectively.
