Abstract

Compression of a phase-modulated pulse propagating in a dispersive media is analyzed using quasi-optical methods. In order to get an output pulse of the desirable shape, a method to synthesize input phase modulation and frequency dispersion of the media is suggested. This method is developed also for the problem of reconstruction of the modulation with unknown phase, which is produced by a high-power rf source, using intensity measurements only.
