Abstract

Purpose – The article discusses how information sharing can contribute to the optimisation of the forensic psychiatry care chain. Approach – The author argues that similarities can be found between supply chain management approaches and forensic psychiatry care. For a case study, 25 representatives have been interviewed. Outcomes are supported with a literature review. Findings – The biggest gain from information sharing can be obtained in the area of treatment duration forecasting, classification of sub-groups and treatment paths. Research limitations – The article is largely conceptual, where ideas are presented to stimulate discussion rather than prove arguments. Paper type – Viewpoint
