Abstract

Stems supplement the fixation of the femoral and tibial components in revision total knee (TKA) arthroplasty. The type of stem needed varies with the location and amount of bone loss present making no one stem design appropriate for all revision TKAs.Stems of variable lengths, with or with offset options, and supplemented with either/and cement and porous augments have their benefit and must be individualized to the situation present. The pros and cons of each design will be discussed.
