Abstract

In this paper, an analysis of a tool replacement problem with asymmetric quadratic loss function is presented. The expected average cost per unit time is derived and it is shown that the optimal initial setting and the optimal replacement time can be found by solving two nonlinear equations. The paper generalizes and improves on previous work in the area.
