Abstract

To the Editor: Postoperative patient telephone follow-up (TFU) calls after Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) and other dermatologic procedures have been associated with high patient satisfaction.1-3 TFU may also aid in identifying and addressing potential surgical complications earlier than if patients were to call themselves.4 Optimal timing of follow-up calls after MMS in relation to patient satisfaction and post-MMS complications has not been studied prospectively. Our study's objective was to define the optimal timing of TFU after MMS that was associated with the highest levels of patient satisfaction or that best identified the most common early post-MMS complications of postoperative bleeding and insufficient pain control.
