Abstract

This paper describes a process on how to optimize the suspension for femto sliders in the design process by using multiobjective topology optimization. The design objectives are defined to maximize the resonant frequency of sway mode subject to inequality constraints on the spring rate and frequencies of first bending and first torsion modes of the suspension. Then the optimization problem is solved with the self-developed multiobjective topology optimization program. Finally, an optimal design of the suspension assembly for femto sliders is presented with much better dynamic characteristics.
