Abstract

The production scheduling of a bell-type batch annealing is a typical multi-machine, multi-stage, re-entry problem with complex constraints of resource and energy. It is also very difficult to build its mathematic model. In this paper, an optimal scheduling method for a bell-type batch annealing is proposed by combining an improved genetic algorithm and discrete event simulation techniques. The method has been implemented in a bell-type batch annealing shop in China. The application result shows the method improves production efficiency and gains economic benefits.
