Abstract

The FACTS (Flexible AC transmission system) devices have been considered as excellent controller that can improve power transmission system efficiency. Among FACTS devices, interline power flow controller (IPFC) is a new concept, used to control power flows of multiple transmission line. In this work, the optimal power flow (OPF) has been determined when installed with IPFC. Moreover, the considering function are a reduction of transmission line loss and cost of IPFC operation. Thereafter, hybrid genetic algorithm (HGA) has been used to estimate the optimization of electric power system installed with IPFC. In addition, the result from HGA has been compared with Quasi-Newton approximation and genetic algorithm (GA). Numerical results such as a possibility of control voltage at bus, reactive power flow, active power flow, loss minimization, minimization cost of IPFC have been carried out on IEEE14BUS system.
