Abstract

The voltage stability problem of distribution networks is an important issue in power system studies. The heavy load situation will lead to rapid voltage drop and voltage instability. In this paper, a new voltage stability index (VSI) is used to identify the most sensitive bus to the voltage collapse in the radial distribution network. In this study, implementation of Distributed Generation (DG) is studied in order to enhance the voltage stability margin of the distributed network. For this purpose, the Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to determine the optimal place and size of DGs. The proposed method is tested on the IEEE 33-bus distribution network and 19-bus distribution network. Simulation results give an illustration of the feasibility of the proposed method.
