Abstract

This paper proposes an optimal passive PID (OP-PID) controller of permanent magnetic synchronous generator (PMSG) for maximum power point tracking (MPPT), in which the interactive teaching-learning optimizer (ITLO) is employed to tune the optimal PID control parameters. A storage function is firstly constructed while the beneficial terms are retained by carefully investigating the physical meaning of each term. Then, a PID controller is adopted on the passivized system as an additional input, which parameters are optimally tuned via ITLO. Case studies on step change of wind speed and stochastic wind speed variation verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in comparison to that of PID controller and feedback linearization control (FLC).
