Abstract

A four year study in search of the best and most efficient partnership of the computer and the operators in large scale system restoration was carried out at Washington University cooperatively with Philadelphia Electric Company. The objective is to combine the available expertise of the operators with the computational ability of the computer while relieving the computer of extensive searches and relieving the operator of predicting beyond his natural horizon. The result is an effective and feasible approach which is summarized in this paper.
