Abstract

(Abstracted from Obstet Gynecol 2017;130:565–572) In recent years, hysteroscopy has gained popularity as an office-based diagnostic practice for evaluation of women presenting with abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB). It is considered to be the criterion standard for diagnosis of intracavitary pathology. In women with persistent AUB, it has to be supplemented with endometrial biopsy; both procedures are integral and complementary tests in the evaluation of AUB. Their combined use can identify or rule out uterine pathology. To avoid delay in diagnosis and management of AUB, it is logical to perform these procedures at the same office visit.
