Abstract

Most of the crude oil produced in China is easily condensable with high viscosity, and the pipeline transportation method is mostly heating transportation. The energy consumption of this transportation method mainly comes from the heating furnace and the pump. To reduce energy consumption and find the optimal steady-state operation scheme of oil pipelines, this paper takes a crude oil pipeline as a practical case based on Matlab software, establishes a mathematical model for optimal operation of oil pipelines, and uses a genetic algorithm to solve the model. The results show that the genetic algorithm is featured by fast convergence rate and short optimization time, and can obtain the optimal scheme. Compared with the actual operation scheme, the optimal one can reduce energy consumption by 13.03%, which indicates that the model and method established in this paper have strong applicability.
