Abstract

The railway environment monitoring system is very crucial to ensure the safe operation of the High-speed railway. This paper addresses the problem of the nodes deployment of WSN-based railway environment monitoring system. Our design goal is to find the optimal deployment scheme (number of relay node and the deployment of these nodes) that maximize the network utilization efficiency defined as network lifetime divided by the number of deployed sensors. Results of case studies demonstrate the superiority and feasibility of this optimal deployment scheme.
