Abstract

Computer-aided classroom assignment is very common and efficient, which can reduce a huge amount of work for educational administrators. Its result will determine the OD pairs for students and professors as well as the traffic volumes and traffic flow paths on campus. Certain optimization can be done to reduce the traffic volume both among and within buildings by manipulating the assigning results. By putting courses into adjacent time slots which have a large inter-course traffic volume between them into the same building, the total traffic volume can be diminished. To determine the plans for this manipulation towards the existing classroom assignment, enough information of courses, buildings and students is needed. The comprehensive management systems which are used commonly among universities can provide pretty good data to support us. Optimization can be achieved which will reduce the traffic congestion and improve resource utilization using the knowledge of traffic demand management.
