Abstract

A procedure is presented which results in a solution to an optimal control problem when some instruments cannot be changed in every period. The solution presented in this paper is shown to have characteristics which have significant economic implications. A simple model is used to demonstrate the value of the type of solution presented here with regard to the ability of the optimal control solution to stabilize the system.
