Abstract
Restructuring in power systems requires expanding capacity of transmission systems to avoid some problems such as cost, right-of-way, and expansion needs. Nowadays flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices are known as important equipments for reducing the flows in loaded lines by increasing loadability, decreasing system loss, improving stability of the network and reducing the cost of production. In this article, by using congestion management in normal and contingency conditions, best location of a phase shifter will be determined to reduce production cost and increase loadability in power markets. The proposed method is used to demonstrate its effect on IEEE 30-bus standard system and to fulfill optimization by quadratic programming.
