Abstract

The main structural features and operating principles of alternative energy sources are analyzed, the advantages and disadvantages of each of them are determined, as well as their role in the global energy system. It is shown that the efficient use of solar and wind energy, as well as biological and geothermal energy resources, will meet the electricity needs of developing industries and growing populations around the world, save fuels such as hydrocarbons and coal extracted from mineral deposits and to protect the environment, to reduce the pollution of it. It is noted that the basis for the effective operation of alternative energy sources is the correct economic justification of their use, determination of optimal operating modes and options for connecting these energy sources when used together with traditional energy sources and shows the need to develop an optimal selection algorithm to improve transition processes by reducing commutation, considering possible priorities in the grid.
