Abstract

Many agriculture investments are oriented to the Algerian Sahara. Noticeably, they need electricity which is often by diesel generators. The refuelling process is a barricade due to the very far and remote area distance which make it very expensive. To overcome this issue, a hybridization is initiated with the local renewable solar energy. Correspondingly, the PV source marks an excess or shortage of energy; to cope this uncontrolled power an energy storage system is compulsory. This work is confined to the hydro pumped storage system which is favorable due to its geological aspects and the subject matter. This hybridization needs a specific energy management control. The suggested management strategy considers the temporal solar energy and associates it to the pumping servitudes and the online fuel consumption optimization. This last, proves the PSH performance dual function in both the irrigation and power restitution; it also reduce the gas emission and save fuel. As far as this study is concerned, the suggested formula of online fuel consumption per kWh is successfully examined through the energy management strategy in comparison to that of the literature. Consequently, this study could be helpful for similar future studies.
