Abstract

An optimal erasure slicer design method for minimum mean square error (MMSE) decision feedback equalizer (DFE) is presented. A new DFE minimum square error (MSE) model is proposed, which includes DFE error propagation effect. The slicer input noise is assumed to be Gaussian distribution. Based on the precise MSE model and noise assumption, the optimal erasure slicer is obtained by minimizing MSE. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.
