Abstract

Wind power plants have ability to control the wind power output within a certain range. Considering the ability of active power control of wind farms, the wind power forecast will be more accurate. In this paper, a statistical model for wind power forecast distribution considering the wind farm active control is established. Then, based on the wind forecast error model proposed, an optimal dispatch model is formulated. An improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed to solve this problem. The case study shows that considering the ability of wind power control, the reserve requirement will be reduced and the operation cost will be decreased.
