Abstract

Summary form only given. Driven by the demand for smaller and better portable consumer products, the trend of higher areal density is expected to continue in next few years. To enable reliable sensing of the densely packed magnetic data, development of suspension for highly accurate positioning system is compulsory. Existing design of suspension may not be able to fulfill the future requirements of magnetic recording since they merely has their first torsional frequency around 2~4kHz. To aid the development of suspension with higher torsional and lateral frequencies, this paper described a systematic design methodology to optimize the profile of suspension, and disclose some optimum designs.
