Abstract
This paper is concerned with the design of optimal linear output feedback regulators subject to a minimax performance index. The most difficult point in the design of linear regulators using output feedback is that optimal feedback matrices depend on the initial states which are unavailable When a minimax performance index is used, the worst value on the initial states can be minimized by using the proposed method. Since the control effects are restricted in the direct output feedback control, a new dynamic compensator is proposed to improve the performance index. The proposed dynamic compensator is excellent in simplicity, and it can be applied to the model following control problem and to the usual linear quadratic one.
