Abstract

Optimal design of a grid connected hybrid system is a critical topic. Especially, in Japan, the electricity market was deregulated from 2016 spring. Customers became able to choose many new smaller power retailers. The time has come for customers to choose optimal electric power contract. Many customers also focus on home power generators, such as PV and diesel. Because of expensive consignment fee, electricity charges of power retailers are expensive. However, capital investment of home power generators is also expensive. Studies of optimal design of a grid connected hybrid system are needed. This paper shows optimal design of a grid connected hybrid system, especially a grid connected PV-diesel hybrid system, using a lot of actual Japanese customers' annual load curves. At last, the possibility of the use of a grid connected PV-diesel hybrid system is illustrated. In addition, this paper illustrated that the most suitable installed capacities and practical use of a grid connected PV-diesel hybrid system can be calculated by solving linear programming problems. Besides, this paper shows that sharing hybrid system among multiple customers makes total annual cost cheaper.
