Abstract

Integrated system optimisation and parameter estimation is a technique for solving nonliner model-based optimisation problems, which specifically takes into account model-reality differences. The paper, which is essentially a survey of work performed over a period greater than the last two decades, illustrates how the technique can be applied to steady-state optimising control and to dynamic optimal control problems, including decomposition and hierarchical control formulations.
