Abstract

A Mathematical model is first developed for the following two tasks. Jump as high as possible starting from a deep crouch with your feet flat on the floor. Jump as high as possible starting from a deep crouch with your weight balanced on your toes (heels off the ground throughout). Then, the mathematical model, which takes the form of an optimal control problem, is solved for the optimal muscle "activation" and trajectories. The analytical results are compared with the experimental results.
