Abstract

We consider an optimal control problem for lake eutrophication. The state problem is given by coupled nonlinear partial differential equations ruling the dynamics of phosphorus stock and cyanobacteria concentration. Our control is only defined on the lake shore, thus leading to a Dirichlet boundary control problem. The well-posedness of the state problem is proved. The existence of a global solution for the optimal control is the main result of this paper.
