Abstract
In order to control the daily functioning in process control industries, various controllers are used. The liquid level control system is one such application in industrial control systems. This work focuses on modelling and simulation of three tank liquid level system connected in interactive design mode using different controllers. The controllers used are PI, PID & Optimal Controller. PI controller serves as the best controller to obtain response fastly. PID control has the advantage of fast response along with no offset time. Optimal Controller helps in getting the best performance for given system. The MATLAB output results have been compared in terms of performance evaluation parameters viz. Rise time, overshoot, steady state error, settling time. From the comparison of simulation results, this is observed that PID controller gives far better results with reduction in steady state error to large extent. This ensures efficacy of Proportional Integral Derivative controller over the PI and Optimal Controller in three tank system.
