Abstract

This paper presents a binary honey bee mating optimization (BHBMO) algorithm for optimal capacitor placement on Meshkinshahr distribution network as a part of Iran's national network. Harmonic distortion of voltage sources in network caused a double harmonic current injection, increasing network losses and incidence of resonance phenomenon. Therefore, in real simulation of capacitor placement, harmonic distortion of voltage sources is considered. This problem inherently is discrete problem and needs a binary algorithm, hereby; we propose a new binary optimization algorithm to solve it. This contribution is conflict to pervious research considers in continues form lead to lose the result accuracy to determine the size, exact site of capacitors. Finally, the proposed algorithm evaluated on a real system known as Meshkinshahr distribution network to reduce loss and improve voltage profile with regard to harmonic distortion of voltage sources and annual load profile.
