Abstract
In this paper, we present several optimal and nearly optimal broadcast and summation algorithms for multiprocessors whose interconnection network consists of a hierarchy of rings. Although useful heuristics have been proposed for such systems, we present the first exact analysis of broadcast and summation on hierarchical ring architectures.
