Abstract

Distribution networks are different from transmission networks due to their radial nature & higher RX ratio. With the ever increasing population, the fossil fuel based energy resources are getting depleted day by day. It is indeed a matter of concern for the operators of electric distribution networks. The harmful emission from the coal based power plants causes environmental pollution. In such a scenario, the operators have to rely on renewable energy sources e.g. PV, wind etc. to cater the ever increasing load demand. A multi-objective maximizing function subjected to operational constraints has been formulated considering the technical, economical & environmental advantages. Distributed generators (DG) based on wind energy are injected at single point & double points with Static VAR compensator (SVC) whose optimal locations have been determined using Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA). The comparing algorithms are particle swarm optimization (PSO) & its modified forms.
