Abstract

This paper presents a solution to a problem of optimal allocation and sizing of photovoltaic energy storage systems for power losses in 33-bus radial distribution networks. The problem is solved by utilizing a technique formed by a combination of a genetic algorithm and Newton-Raphson power flow method. The test systems are simulated for 1, 2, 3 and 4 units of photovoltaic energy storage systems that are best suited for installation on the initial systems and their performance through minimized power losses in the systems. The simulation results show that the best location for 1 unit is bus 6 and its size is 2703.3 kVA. For 2, 3, and 4 units the best locations are shown in details.
