Abstract

An optically end-pumped HBr master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) has been demonstrated for what we believe is the first time. It produced up to 10.3 mJ per pulse at 4.20 and 4.34 µm when pumped with a single-frequency Ho:YLF MOPA system at a pulse repetition frequency of 50 Hz. Wavelength selection with the use of an intracavity C O 2 absorption cell was also demonstrated, forcing the oscillator to emit at 3.89, 4.13, and 4.16 µm simultaneously, with a maximum output energy of 6.5 mJ per pulse after amplification.
