Abstract
Optically detected electron paramagnetic resonance (OD-EPR) Spectra at 22.9, 75.0, and 94.9 GHz of the luminescent state of Cu + ions in NaF are reported. The EPR spectra do not support the current T lg( 3E g, 3d 94s) “atomic” assignment of the luminescent state, but point to a paramagnetic species with g values in the range of 2.0–2.5, a very small or no zero-field splitting and a spin density in the Cu 4s oribtal lower than 0.04.
