Abstract
Calculations of the conductivity tensor for π-band transitions give new results on the anisotropy of the dielectric function. The intrinsic optical absorption coefficient for linear polarization has been measured on thin films consisting of highly aligned fibers and was found to be in qualitative agreement with the theory.
