Abstract
Optical absorption and emission intensities are investigated for Er 3+ ions in crystal KY (WO 4) 2. Oscillator strengths of transitions to all levels up to 350 nm were measured from absorption spectra recorded at room temperature. The Judd-Ofelt theory has been applied to the experimental data to obtain the intensity parameters: Ω 2=7.96×10 -20 cm 2 , Ω 4=2.31×10 -20 cm 2 , Ω 6=1.40×10 -20 cm 2 . The probabilities of the spontaneous electric and magnetic dipole transitions, radiative lifetimes, and branching ratios are thus calculated.
