Abstract

In this paper, the optical switching by microcontroller network is presented, whose main application is oriented toward the optical fiber system etc. Fiber to the home (FTTH), fiber to the curb (FTTC) and others where the switching application is play the main key role in the system. These systems are consisting of two primary elements communicating each other: i) a server consisting of a microcontroller PIC 18F97J60 with built-in embed- ded Ethernet controller module and ii) a client computer. The process of this system is, a client computer will send data through internet to the microcontroller by using web-base status monitoring application and the microcontroller will process the data and produce appropriate output to the optical switch to control the optical route. In the end of this paper, we proposed the Centralized Monitoring System (CMS) which uses remotely controlled 1x8 optical switch to divert the OTDR test signal to each specific line and able the result to be displayed onto one computer screen with the capability of analyzing and summarizing through our new developed equipments and program.
