Abstract

A simple apparatus for measuring the optical spectra of free semiconductor microcrystals has developed. Well-directional microcrystal beams were produced and their extinction spectra show the quantum confinement of carriers or excitons in free semiconductor microcrystals. Experimental details and optical spectra of free and quasifree Ge, CuBr, ZnSe, and PbS microcrystals are presented.
